Giving Back

I’m a big animal lover—cats, dogs, bunnies, you name it. I’ve even cried over the death of fish. A couple of weeks before I was set to launch E’s Candy Cookies, our outdoor feral cat, Alex (aka Alex the Feral Cat, pictured above), died from injuries sustained after being hit by a car. We were absolutely gutted. Two friends—both animals lovers in their own right—suggested that I donate portion of my first day or month of proceeds to an organization that helps cats. So 100 percent of the sales of my first day of cookies went to LapCats, an organization that helps cats in the Greater Sacramento area.

I loved the idea of helping animals by way of my cookies. So I decided to make it my mission to donate a portion of my proceeds to different animal organizations throughout Northern California, rotating organizations every month or so. So when you buy my cookies, you can feel good knowing that some of your money is going to help our animal friends. I also plan to feature a fur buddy up for adoption from that month’s organization. This month’s animal rescue is LapCats, an Elk Grove-based rescue whose motto is “Saving One Cat at a Time Through Education and Community Support.”
